Sources & methodology
Every record has a provenance. Here is how we collect, interpret and update the data.
Federal licence register
Health Canada lists licensed cultivators, processors and sellers, alongside suspended, expired or revoked notices. We retain exact notice wording. “Listed with licence categories” describes what was observed, not an independent legal certification. Exact duplicate rows are deduplicated; separate sites remain separate records.
Annual market data
Statistics Canada Table 10-10-0164-01 reports recreational cannabis sales by authorities and other retail outlets. Fiscal years run April–March. Thousands of CAD are converted to CAD. Medical sales are excluded. Suppressed or unavailable values are omitted, never replaced with zero. Latest source revisions replace earlier observations.
Update cadence
The pipeline is configured for a daily check at 14:17 UTC. Licence and market imports validate source formats before writes. Government updates are deduplicated by canonical source URL and queued for editorial review. No recurring paid AI calls are configured.
Research selection
The curated library includes human experiments and Canadian policy studies with original citations. It is not a systematic search or complete evidence inventory. Findings are presented with study-specific limitations.
Data licences
Statistics Canada data is subject to the Statistics Canada Open Licence. Government material and source links remain attributed to their publishers. Full copyrighted articles are not republished. Retail price comparison and promotional use remain outside this publication.
